Welcome to Murder Mystery Events
Murder Mystery Events was formed in the year 2000 by Mark Hayden
Mark is a professional actor, who amongst his TV, theatre and film work was asked to take part in several ‘murder mystery’ events run in the London area. Although he thorough enjoyed taking part, the standards of these murder mystery event varied considerable.
There was huge inconsistency with the cast, the scripts and the overall performances. So sensing the potential if such events were conducted professionally, Mark set to work forming Murder Mystery Events and Murder Mystery Shop.
The aim from the start was to maximise the fun of the participants by placing the events ‘in safe hands’ so that every cast member, every script and every venue was up to the highest standard.
“I realised that most people booking a murder mystery weekend, dinner or event don’t want to be the next Inspector Morse, they wanted to laugh, have fun and enjoy the interaction between themselves and professional comedy actors- but still have a real mystery to solve who dunnit? The Carry on Agatha Christie style I’ve developed has turned out to be very effective in creating events which are teambuilding fun!” says Mark.
Starting in 2000, Mark set about conducting strict interview processes and only casting versatile actors with a sense of fun and the ability to improvise around a well thought out script. Events are all scripted by a team of professional writers – but given the nature of the event skill at interactive comedy is always important to making the event a success.
Over the years the company’s reputation for proving the best murder mystery nights in the business out has grown. Shared public shared take place throughout the year in London’s West End. Murder mystery weekends take place up and down the country and the company has also built a reputation for providing corporate teambuilding projects throughout the year. These can take the form of anything from product launches to team building for corporate clients. In addition special pieces created around birthday parties and hen Nights.
The busiest time of year is still Christmas as a Murder Mystery proves the ideal office party solution for many companies.

Our Founder, Mark
Aside from Murder Mystery Events, Mark has worked on many projects as director, writer, performer, creative consultant and producer.
After training at Webber Douglas Drama School he graduated having performed in many theatres in repertory seasons, Shakespeare and of course murder mysteries.
Mark’s real professional interest in the ‘whodunit’ and the spellbinding effect it had on audiences was in arguably the world’s most famous play – the West End production of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap. Mark has been a cast member twice – playing Christopher Wren and more recently playing Guiles Ralston. Mark also added to his comedy credentials by working for the National Theatre in the original production of the much acclaimed One Man Two Guvnors.
Mark performs regularly as MC for the cult Singalong version of ‘The Sound of Music’ which is tours the world along with the other shows on which I worked as creative consultant and MC; Singalong Joseph, Singalong Wizard of Oz, Singalong Annie, Singalong Rocky Horror and the new shows Singalong Hairspray and Singalong Grease.
Involvement in these areas has got Mark into various interesting situations and TV radio and newspaper approaches have followed. These have ranged from guests spots on ‘ITV’s This Morning’ with Philip and Fern’ as well as ‘Channel 4 Richard and Judy show. Most recently he was profiled on the BBC news channel and BBC Breakfast talking about his various theatrical endeavours.
Murder Mystery Events celebrated 15 years of activity in 2015 and performs between 160 / 200 events per year at venues across the UK. It is probably the largest and best respected operator in this field.
